Mark Wahlberg bravely takes on the Taliban (and admits to attending a Coldplay concert) in the trailer for Peter Berg’s Lone Survivor.
Also starring Eric Bana, Taylor Kitsch, Ben Foster, and Emile Hirsch, it was suggested by several pundits that this could have been a late Oscar contender (perhaps the first in Berg’s career).
Though the trailer boasts hyperbolic quotes from Bill Simmons and Peter Travers, it also indicates that this most likely will be more of a visceral action movie than an Academy Awards player.
There ain’t nothing wrong with that.
It opens in 2014.
